12/6/2010:
The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra premieres a suite of music from Civilization V as part of a Play! A Video Game Symphony concert. A review of the concert can be found here. Geoff and Michael attended the concert and gave away about 200 signed free copies of the soundtrack afterwards.

12/4/2010:
Geoff's younger sister, Melissa, gives the world premiere of Five Short Pieces for viola and cello with cellist Brian Hayslett as part of her senior viola recital at the Hartt School of Music.

11/19/2010:
Geoff recorded and mixed a piece composed and performed by cellist, Caleb Jones, for a Haiti benefit concert.

9/28/2010:
The opening movie for Civilization V has now been posted. Geoff provided the 5.1 surround mix and music orchestration for the movie. Sound design and sound effects editing was done by both Michael Curran and Geoff. Check it out here.

9/21/2010:
Sid Meier's Civilization V to be released. Geoff composed approximately half the original music and completed all of the orchestration and music preparation for the game. He also mixed the opening movie.

More info. on the pieces I composed for Civilization V has now been posted! Click here to read more about the melodies used, see what instruments were used, hear some of the things that inspired me, and even view some of the orchestra scores used for the recording sessions.

8/29/2010:
A Sundays at Central concert will be featuring a few of Geoff's concert works: an arrangement of the Hymn for three cellos, Meditations for solo cello, an arrangement of Scott Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag, and the premiere of a new work for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and toy piano. The program will also feature the music of Karen Amrhein. Central Presbyterian Church, 3pm.

Three Songs, a new three-movement work for chamber ensemble composed for the Halo Ensemble to be premiered. Vanha kirkko, Helsinki, Finland, 7pm.

8/9/2010:
Geoff composed a string arrangement to a song by the local Baltimore band, Medicine Lake. He also played cello in the recording session ensemble. Audio to be posted soon.

July/August 2010:
Geoff is currently worknig on two concert works: a three movement piece for the Halo Ensemble to be premiered in Helsinki, Finland, and a short piece for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and toy piano to be premiered on a Sundays at Central concert on August 29, 2010.

5/16/2010:
Shadows of the Infinite to be performed by the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra on their Spring Concert. 7:30pm at Atlanta Symphony Hall.

4/24/2010:
Shadows of the Infinite to be performed by The Wheaton College Symphony Orchestra. 8pm at Edman Chapel.

4/21/2010:
Geoff will be presenting for Peabody's Computer Music Seminar. Presentation to include: tips for creating realistic orchestral mock-ups, creating interactive music structures for games using middleware software. 6-7pm at Peabody in Conservatory room 314.

2/18/2010:
Geoff's current project at Firaxis, Civilization 5, has been announced! Geoff is working on ethnic orchestral pieces for the game.
One of his pieces is featured in the recent CivV trailer on IGN! More details and sound samples forthcoming.

11/30 - 12/6 2009:
Minnesota Public Radio streamed the "Future Classics" concert, the culminating event of the Minnesota Orchestra Composer's Institute. The broadcast is now offline.

11/21/2009:
Shadows of the Infinite to be performed by the Minnesota Orchestra. Geoff's piece is in the good company of two other pieces by Peabody alumni Roger Zare and Angel Lam. 8pm, Symphony Hall, Minneapolis, MN.

11/17-22:
Geoff is to attend the Minnesota Composer's Institute.
